Dummy Output audio after gnome-session crash or wake-from-sleep

Howdy, folks!

Every once in awhile, after gnome-session crashes or after waking my laptop from sleep, the only audio devices available to the system are “Dummy Output.” I have to reboot to get my audio devices back.

I’m on a Thinkpad P50. lspci reports that my device is: 01:00.1 Audio device: NVIDIA Corporation Device 0fbc (rev a1)

Any thoughts or steps on how to troubleshoot? It would be nice to not have to reboot when this happens. Thanks!

Hi.  Search for something like a /sys/class/sound/card0/power/control;
echo on to it.  But most probably it’ll not help.
Idea is to disable the power-saving for audio card (it’s a reknown remedy for the USB-modems).
If it’s helps, then there is the bug to report.
