Downgrade Fedora 35 to 34

Hi there,

I want to downgrade from Fedora 35 to Fedora 34, I am having a number of crashing issues that I wasn’t having before I upgraded, Also there are a number of applications that I want to use that haven’t been added to the repo’s yet.

I am currently getting this error when I attempt to downgrade.

Running transaction check
Transaction check succeeded.
Running transaction test
The downloaded packages were saved in cache until the next successful transaction.
You can remove cached packages by executing 'dnf clean packages'.
Error: Transaction test error:
file /usr/libexec/fwupd/efi/fwupdx64.efi conflicts between attempted installs of fwupd-1.5.12-1.fc34.x86_64 and fwupd-efi-1.1-1.fc34.x86_64
file /usr/libexec/fwupd/efi/fwupdx64.efi.signed conflicts between attempted installs of fwupd-1.5.12-1.fc34.x86_64 and fwupd-efi-1.1-1.fc34.x86_64

I have seen a number of downgrade threads but none that solved my issue, any assistance would be appreciated, thank you!

Possibly uninstall the firmware update package prior to downgrade.

Possibly an nvidia card in your system? There have been some comments about forced hard reboot and other crashes and lockups plaguing some users.

Sorry if this is a silly question, however, How would I go about completing this?

I think is the package from your post above. So sudo dnf uninstall fwupd.x86_64 should do it.
There are no silly questions, just unanswered ones.
[Edit] @augenauf is correct for Workstation or Server, I use Silverblue so I am able to deploy past commits. I just assumed everyone would being embracing the :atom_symbol: Atomic Wonderfulness that is Silverblue!

This is actually not possible, either you can fix the problem by updating or downgrading the affected packages (or other means that we can discuss here), but downgrading from one release to the older one is not supported. You would have to reinstall Fedora 34.

This did kind of work, it did allow me to complete the “Downgrade” however as noted

When I completed the sudo dnf system-upgrade reboot the installer hung at 2% overnight and then I needed to complete a full reinstall, so I completed the reinstall and I am now back at square 1. At least I am back on F34
