Double mouse pointers when using a drawing tablet

My Genius Mousepen i608X has worked fine up until recently. Now there are two pointers after a recent system update. I don’t know the exact one. It messes with all kinds of things like going invisible, just not dragging, or making the screen spasm. I’ve seen somewhat similair posts about drawing device mode, but they don’t seem to have the same effect.

Fedora workstation 34.

I’m not very tech savvy, so please just let me know how I can help and thank you for your time.

One pointer is the touchpad, the other is from the tablet.

Can you pls give an output from inxi -Fzx #shows systeminfo in Terminal ?

I just posted this in one of my old topic threads before I found your post. My Wacom tablet (after a recent 34 update) is having the same problem with 2 cursors and the tablet drawing cursor (a large + sign) being ultra slow. We could both be having the same issue. Here’s my other post:

In June 2020, I mentioned that an update to Fedora 31 fixed my issue of Wacom tablet not working as a mouse. Everything with my Wacom tablet has been working very well for me until a very recent update to Fedora 34. Now it’s back to doing what it did before. Here’s the description of the previous problem that has reappeared :

“… my Wacom tablet worked wonderfully as my mouse. I use the pen with the tablet as a mouse because of carpel tunnel issues.
… the tablet only works as a drawing graphics tablet which no longer works as a mouse (very slow movement, cross instead of mouse pointer, etc.) This may be great for artist, but not for those of us that need the mouse emulation.”

I would love to get my Wacom to work as a mouse again. It’s totally useless for me as a drawing pin and extremely slow on a 4K monitor. If people need to have drawing capabilities, maybe it would be best to have a switch in the Wacom software that switches between mouse mode and drawing mode. This might take care of most people’s need for using the Wacom tablet.

Please get the Wacom tablet to work as a mouse again.

Thank you for any answers I get.

Yes I guess would be nice, but I think this has nothing to do with Fedora. Just if it has worked before we first have tho check what changed.
Could you also post your your details as i asked @epeon todo?

I see the same issue with double pointers on Fedora 34, with my (Wacom) Intuos5 touch.

Thanks for your quick reply: below is the output you requested. Since my Wacom tablet is connected with USB, I did add the J option ( inxi -FJzx ) to show the USB information.

$ inxi -FJzx

NOTE: this is without my tablet plugged in. let me know if this is a mistake.

I found this Article on Reddit. Someone having your problem using Wayland.

Could you be so kind and try to log out and before log in again click on the gear in the right bottom corner and switch the login to Gnome X.org?

Please give a feedback if this solves the issue with the two mouse pointers.

There is only one pointer with X.org, so I think the issue has been solved (for me). It is also a regular pointer. Thank you so much, for your help, patience, and friendliness. Sorry I took so long to get back to you.

Hello ilikelinux

I tried your suggestion about logging in with Gnome X.org. That solved the problem with 2 pointers with Wacom tablet… I would still prefer to use Wayland.

Also, I use KeepassXC and using Wacom tablet stopped working after upgrading past Fedora 32. It still doesn’t work in KeepassXC with either Wayland or X.org.

Thanks for all the help you’ve provided.
Don D.

I belief KeepassXC not works anymore because it is not Gnome 40 compatible yet (F34 comes with Gnome 40.x). I do use it without problems with MateDesktop (this is still Gnome 3.x) But please open a separate Request for KeepassXC where we can gather info’s and errors to eventually create a Bug request.

If you want to follow up the problem about Wacom Tablet and Wayland do also a separate request as an follow-up request:
