Dnfdragora instantly crashes on launch in Fedora 41 Beta

Problem

In Fedora 41 Beta, dnfdragora - the default graphical package manager on several desktop spins, including Xfce and LXQt - crashes immediately upon launch. This has been fixed in a post-Beta update, but the problem will happen when running dnfdragora after install from a Beta image until you update some other way.

Cause

This was caused by dnfdragora assuming it could check the status of the dnf-makecache.timer systemd service. This service is no longer a part of DNF 5, but dnfdragora was not able to handle the file not being present.

Not yet known.

Solution

After installing from a Beta image, you will need to update dnfdragora some other way - e.g. by running dnf update dnfdragora. After that, it should run successfully and you should be able to use it to update the rest of the system and manage packages as usual.

This is resolved by an update, see the Solution section.
