Hey
This morning after I started my PC which has Fedora 43 with KDE Plasma 6.5
Now after the update, I faced a problem, which was the full screen mode wasn’t working. Neither in browser nor in any app, like minecraft. In minecraft settings, it simply showed that Full Screen Resolution not available and toggling the fullscreen mode would make my screen blank for 1-2 sec and then would come back to life doing nothing.
To fix this I thought to update my GPU drivers. I have a AMD apu so I just got the commands for doing so from AMD website. In konsole I did
valiantboy1@fedora:~$ sudo dnf update
sudo: dnf: command not found
After seeing this, I was sure that the update which I did in the morning from Discover f#ed my Fedora. I told this scene to chatgpt, and I did some command stuff, it told me the both dnf and dnf5 are missing from my PC.
How can I fix these and other mess which I haven’t discovered yet…???
Any help would be amazing.
Thanks In Advanced
Are you perhaps using Fedora Kinoite? Kinoite doesn’t use dnf.

i dont think that’s the case, cause I have used dnf command before too. I have been on fedora for an year now. Till now this was working fine.

What should I do?

Please tell us what these commands were so we can attempt to understand what may have changed in your system?
No dnf command should remove dnf—it’s part of a set of protected packages that dnf will refuse to remove. So, have you used another package manager or installation method that does not have these restrictions built in?
Can we please also have the output of fpaste --sysinfo --printonly?
Another output that would be useful is, so we can see what commands you have access to:
sudo ls /bin/d*
Also, the value of the PATH variable, which tells the shell where to look for your commands:
echo $PATH

Can you try the command dnf4 history list ?
Discover still uses dnf4 (not dnf5 aka dnf), so it may be that dnf4 is still available and can show its history. That way we can figure out whatever Discover did.

Well the problem started after I did the update from the Discover software. After that only I went to the konsole to actually update my drivers.
Well that’s big, I’m attaching a doc for the output

So transaction 5 did indeed remove dnf5, which does not sound good. Can you remember exactly what you did in Discover to make this happen?
Can you try to reverse that transaction using sudo dnf4 history undo 5 ?
Side question: do you know where that amdgpu-install package came from? It doesn’t appear to be in the Fedora repos - the .el9. in the name suggests that it’s intended for RHEL or CentOS.

Install amdgpu-install-6.4.60402-2187269.el9.noarch @@commandline
Looks like installed an epel 9 package manually?!

I see. Let’s isolate ourselves from that package then, and try:
sudo dnf4 install dnf5 dnf5-plugins libdnf5-cli dialog bash-completion

I did installed it manually because I wasn’t able to full screen any apps.
As of I can think, the dnf5 was removed before my attempt to install AMD drivers manually??

No - look at the history. Transaction 4 is the install of the AMD driver. Transaction 5 removes the AMD driver, and dnf5 and related stuff.

Great. I would recommend starting a new topic about your graphics problems.
I think that installing the RHEL driver isn’t the right solution, but I don’t use an AMD GPU so I don’t have a great idea about what the actual right answer is . Someone else should know better.

Nuts and bolts question here…did “sudo dnf4 history undo" use dnf 4 or was there something else undoing the transaction?
