Someone please help. I am a linux noob. I use fedora for web development and I’m facing an issue where for instance,
When I stop my docker containers and next servers after I finish working, the disk fills up to 0mb remaining and purges back to what it was before(or slightly different). This happens multiiple times a day which is writing more than 150gb in total which is wearing out my SSD in this memory price inflated era. I am really concerned and it’s just recently that I noticed this and couldn’t find any solution online.
What is it filling up with - core dumps or something?
What messages do you get in journalctl when this takes place?

I don’t know what it’s filling up with. But there is an issue, my terminal won’t get opened when this takes place. and if terminal is already open, I have to close it for this to happen. and it also only happens after maybe 1 hour long session. I get free up disk space warning everywhere. Not sure if this screenshot helps.
No text as screenshots - just paste the text. I can’t copy any of this, search it, paste the contents anywhere else and screenreaders can do nothing with it.
Trigger the issue, reboot then you can view the contents of the previous journal via journalctl -b -1. It looks like my suspicion of it being coredumps is along the right lines - seems that anti-gravity IDE is dumping core. Does this issue happen if you don’t use that IDE; i.e. can you trigger this issue without making use of that IDE?
By the way, that font is eye-watering which is another reason for not posting screenshots of it.

Try to find where that space is going first. For example, you can run:
du -xhd1 ~/ | sort -h
Then drill down into the directories that are taking up the most space to see what’s actually inside them. You can also install ncdu for interactive navigation.
Once we know where the space is going, it becomes much easier to pinpoint the issue. For example, you might discover that /home/youruser/somedir/ has somehow grown to 100 GB, or that shared Docker volumes are generating logs or leftover files that are eating up the disk.
From your post I read between lines that you have to run docker system prune to recover the space, which points to something that image is generating on crash, or is crashing when there is no space left.
All in all, the first step is to find where the space is being consumed; then we can start looking into why .

I’ve encountered cases where user failed to notice that mass storage was nearly full before starting an app that creates an artifact in memory, then gets core dumps when the app can’t save the artifact because there wasn’t space to store it. If you are using btrfs, try running btrfs fi df /.
