Discussion about real-time kernel

Hi all
My name is Haytham Mostafa, i’m a doctor in Egypt, who is interested in linux.
I know very little about the kernel, but was following it a lot.
In this article: Linux Kernel 6.12 Has Landed – And It's a Big One - OMG! Ubuntu
Shouldn’t PREEMPT_RT allow the fastest executing process to always be in-control ??
Its like a president of a country if i think about it.
I just love discussing facts…

Hi there!

Afaik the RTK is not suited for desktop use.

The “president” may be the governor, dont know how that is changed by the RTK

real-time means the process execution is predictable. this is important in industrial process control or for example manufacturing. Most often, when you need predictable or fixed timing, a PLC is used to read and control I/Os. For a desktop, there is little use, unless you have some specific audio/video applications for instance that require or can make use of real-time processing.
