i agree, i was looking at discover and after removing the snap package that caused the freeze, it is no longer reporting that there are updates pending, it does need to be reported because discover right now is vital for new users
tbh i have been using linux for many decades now, and i got used to use a gui tool to do updates since almost the beginning
as you said, konsole saves commands and since i dont distro hop anymore this is really important for me
I’m used to Synaptic and that’s what I prefer, but – it’s a GUI, it does GUI stuff in the expected GUI way, even if it does get carried away with the details (which Discover hides).
I’ve been told you can open Konsole and use it to watch what Discover does in the background, tho I’m not sure how that works.

synaptic was nice but sometimes got confused and made a mess with dependencies, i imagine it improved over the last decade

Synaptic’s GUI is blunt, ugly, and doesn’t respect system themes or much of anything else. But my experience was it always did the job. It will flat tell you what dependencies you need and when it doesn’t like your dependencies, and has some capacity for fixing those issues.
PCLinuxOS used some terminally ancient version (like, from 2008) and it didn’t start having problems until PCLOS had to make some changes to catch up with the world (and then ended up switching to a custom DNF).
But after getting used to Synaptic, other package managers feel way too simple.

meanwhile discover seems to be working normally now, i got notifications and could install them normally, just got new mesa drivers
This worked for me. I entered this in Konsole, let it do its thing, rebooted. Went into Discover > Updates and the updates that were stuck updated. Looks like this took care of the issue so far! Thank you!
KDE just released 6.7.1 bugfix release, for example on Fedora 44 this just showed up on “updates” repo yesterday (26 Jun 2026). So immediately upgrade since this upgrade affects Discover (Package “plasma-discover” is in the upgrade) and might resolve problems you have with it being stuck.
KDE 6.7.2 is due on 6/30/2026 from the upstream.
thank you for that information, i had some problems installing that one, discover really took very long to download the files this time, and wasnt even 1 gb of updates
i heard some good things about kernel 7.2, at the speed we are getting new kernels like 7.013 we just got, that one will be here very soon i imagine
In that case, I’d suggest from terminal:
sudo dnf upgrade
also that way you can see the output better (Discover hides the results unless something really bad happens, in that case it gives you a “show details” button)
thank you, i meant to say it took its time, but did it as it should the update at the end
no idea what package really took time to be downloaded or what happened, it was torwards the end of the almost 900 mbs of files being updated, i imagine it was kernel and kernel related stuff

PLasma 6.7.1 borked it again. It imported “plasma-discover-snap” back into your computer.
Just run again: sudo dnf remove plasma-discover-snap
And then reboot
That will fix it once again for the time being until Fedora/KDE come up with a final fix. The fix was not in 6.7.1 as I checked their log, nor have the reported bug(s) been assigned as fixed yet.

Can someone who had the snap backend re-installed post the logs because that sounds like another bug that may need to be documented.

To be honest: People from bugs.kde.org made a bit of a mess of things by coming in and closing bug reports and then pointing them towards other bug reports as so called duplicates, which is not correct as I had a careful read through them from User comments. Mine was closed for that reason and no action taken. Removing snap backend was 100% the fix for mine.
I will post your request soon. At the moment I am using a different Laptop.

The package was 1st installed at ID 20, which was FD43 upgrade to FD44, despite that I didn’t have any snap applets installed.
Even that it was now installed, it caused no issues with Discover at the time.
The problem appeared at ID 57 when Plasma was upgraded from 6.5 to 6.7.0.
6.7.0 included a new plasma-discover-snap package.
And this broke Discover for the 1st time on my Laptop.
I removed it ID63 and the problem was resolved.
Just for it to show up again at ID 69 which was the Plasma 6.7.1 update and broke Discover updates again.
As you can see I removed it ID 72 again and now its all working again.
So on mine and lots of other Users, plasma-discover-snap is/was 100% the issue. Possibly caused by something else.
