Hello everyone!
About 4 days ago I was given a Dell Inspiron 2350. I tried many Linux distros, and Fedora won for many reasons, one of them being that the built-in camera worked using the Live USB. Ubuntu did, too, but I dislike the way it looks. Anyways, after installing Fedora and installing the updates, the 3D camera still worked, but the visual one did not. I searched for a fix and found one that supplied some driver or kernel updates that fixed it. Aside from a couple of apps that I’ve found replacements for(that are better, so I doubt it was a camera issue so much as an app issue) the fix works pretty well. I really wish I would have saved the webpage I found it at, but alas I did not. Now, on to the current issue at hand:
I’ve noticed that after a suspend, the camera no longer works anywhere. Logging out doesn’t fix it, I have to restart the entire computer. I have set the computer to not suspend at all and just turn the screen off after some time, but I’d like to use the suspend to save power.
Any one got any ideas? I’m not new to Linux, but it has been about 12 years since I’ve used it, and almost 20 since I had to tweak it to make it work. I will provide any information needed that I’ve left out. Thanks in advance for any help!
Edit to add: I started on Fedora 42 & GNOME 48, and today just updated to Fedora 43 & GNOME 49.
