Hello, I have this problem, the delete key, in the text editor, when pressed, presents this error. It’s not in all applications, just in the editor.
Which editor?
Did you customise its keys at any point?
If so does it have a reset to defaults you can use?

Removed Site Help & Feedback, problem
The gnome editor. I didn’t customize the keyboard. There is no reset option.
I just tested this in a F40 Gnome VM in virt manager and the delete key works in Gnome Text Editor.
I also tested in Terminal and delete worked as expected there as well.
I also tried Ctrl-V DEL in Terminal and see if insert ^?
.
With the ctrl key pressed, delete works.
A ^v appears in the terminal.
In the terminal the error does not occur.
Try adding a new user to your system and then login as the new user.
Does the Editor work correctly on the new user?
the same thing happens
Is there something special about your keyboard?
Can you test with a different keyboard?
I already did this, it gives the error too.
I will disconnect the keyboard from the notebook and restart with the keyboard.
There are three keys on a PC keyboard that are called delete.
- The key with
<--
on it that is above the return key. - The
Delete
key in the group of 6 keys Insert, Home PageUp etc - The
Del
on the number keypad.
Which one of the three is it that does not wrork for you?
I have been testing (1) the <--
key.
the number 2
I will test by restarting with the USB keyboard
I tested all 3 keys <--
deletes backwards the other two Del
and Delete
delete forwards for me.
I’m now out of ideas why your system is not working.
yeah, I think it’s on the motherboard, the USB keyboard gave the same error, or it’s a virus.
Which locale are you running?
