After a recent system bundle updates, the cursor disappears.
Part of the system updates (there are some other updates too)
adwaita-cursor-theme 48.0-1 → 48.1-1
adwaita-icon-theme → 48.0-1 → 48.1-1
I tried to downgrade adwaita-cursor-theme back to 48.0.1 but that didn’t help.
The good thing is I had a snapshot captured before the upgrade and reverting back the previous snapshot brought the cursor back.
I’d appreciate if someone can provide some pointer about this. (a bug or maybe some workaround?)
I see the same with XFCE and the default theme. But just on some VMs and not on others.
New installations seem fine, but a number (but not all) of existing VMs (ESXi) have disappearing cursors as well. I’d note (I assume that what @logman012 means) that the cursor “exists” and can affect the desktop, but isn’t visible.
I messed around with this for a bunch of hours over the past couple days and was not able to resolve the issue while using VMRC (VMWare Remote Console), but the cursor was visible using XRDP. As such, I chalked it up to an issue with VMRC rather than XFCE/Fedora.
My issue (other than the timing) may well be completely unrelated. However, if it is related, I’d sure like to get this working again.
correct, the cursor is still working but invisible.
I resolved my issue with the invisible cursor by upgrading the ESXi VM compatibility version from 6.7 to 7.0 Update 3 (the current version of my ESXi server) for the VMs that were having the missing cursor issue.
Not sure if VMWare VMs are involved with your issue, but if so, that may well fix the issue for you as well. Good luck!
