Crash to Black screen while gaming

When playing games my Fedora PC will randomly crash to a black screen with contents I will paste below. Before the crash I have always been playing a game on steam and thus far the games I have had crashes with are Persona 5 Royal and Monster Hunter Wilds. The game and steam both become unresponsive right before the crash however other apps such as Discord are responsive even if I am unable to alt-tab to them due to the computer freezing up during the pre-crash window.

Thus far Fedora seems to have been unable to get error logs for this crash as I’ve checked and no logs were generated each time only logs for other things. Any help in fixing this will be appreciated.

What do you have in ~/.steam/steam/logs/cef_log.txt for the time of the crash.

It might be a good idea to clean out this logs directory, and run one of these games until it crashes and then view what’s been written in the freshly created logging directory.

The back screen would imply that the amdgpu driver has crashed, but that’s only speculation on my behalf.

I’ll try clearing out those logs to see if I can get something a bit more concrete but here’s the most recent things in those logs if that helps. The crashes are quite random and thus difficult to reproduce.

Just updating to say that I’m currently trialling another fix of disabling the “Enable GPU accelerated rendering in web views” setting in steam which can apparently cause issues so I guess I’ll report back if/when I get another crash.

Currently trialling another fix, of adding the ‘DRI_PRIME=0 %command%’ command to the launch options in Steam for affected games. I’ll update if/when another crash occurs. If this is the fix, then the problem is my integrated graphics being randomly used when the games should be using my GPU.
