Hey!
I’m new to linux, and i decided to go with Fedora 42.
my setup is HP victus 15, and i have been facing connection issues with mediatek 7921.
For context, im running a dual boot setup with windows 11. Whenever i try to connect to my wifi, it connects just fine.
However, on fedora, it keeps loading for a long time, and then says the password is incorrect.
I managed to find the cause of this issue, which is the distance to the router. Whenever i go closer to it, it connects just fine (albeit performs slower than windows)
I’m not sure what’s causing this. I’ve tried many things such as turning off power saving, turning off roaming.
ive followed this guide
ive tried to download the latest firmware from the git
ive tried having the files compressed and uncompressed
I’m not sure what else to try, and im not sure what i can add here that may help.
Do let me know.
here’s what i get from journalctl, i saw someone ask for this in a different post.

I encountered similar issues with linux wifi in an educational institution. Windows systems were configured to use Quality of Service for streaming video courses. Linux users had problems connecting and low download speeds. The workaround was to turn off wifi on half the linux systems and use a “buddy” system with two students sharing a system, then repeating the process for the other half of the systems. This actually worked very well because two students working together often caught typos and other mistakes without the need for an instructor to intervene.
