I’m a Dvorak user and this bug report is identical to what I’m experiencing:
In a live KDE session:
Settings → Keyboard → press ‘Add’ (twice) to set Dvorak (primary) and normie-QWERTY (US) English layouts.
‘Change layout shortcut’ works for one character before ‘snapping’ back to the previous layout.
Each shortcut press displays other layout name + keyboard icon at center of screen.
It sounds clear, but to be totally: is this only a problem in live environments / a non-issue for actual installations ? From the bug report:
“This seems to be specific to the live environment. On an installed system, things seem to behave correctly; switching layout is permanent.”
It also sounds like Kamil left a tip related to skipping the keyboard setup during install and setting primary/secondary layouts after (if I’m reading that right)?
Lastly – it makes me wonder about other possible glitches related to keyboard layouts / layout shortcuts in KDE, Fedora Gnome, or both. Is this all just an issue in live sessions – and are alt. layouts / layout switching reliable after OS installation? Is layout switching more or less reliable in Gnome vs. KDE?
