Can't use webcam on Acer Nitro 5

When I try to use the webcam through cheese a message appears “no device found”. The same happens for vlc

What fedora version/DE are you currently running? Could you please post the output of lsusb to see if your system is detecting it at all?

Check that your system recognizes the device as told by @mrgarlic. If it is recognized but doesn’t work you can try installing libcamera (libcamera-gstreamer and/or pipewire-plugin-libcamera may also be needed).

Fedora 39/ Gnome 45.4

Unfortunately this didn’t solve the problem

Please try looking for your laptop model here.
What does it say about your webcam?

It says the version of distro don’t support the camera. Is there anything i can do about this? Do i need to wait for some distro update or something like that?

Simplest fix – an external usb webcam.
Otherwise it may be a long wait since hardware manufacturers are not focused on supporting linux and drivers are needed.
