Can't stop Fedora Kinoite sleeping

I often have Fedora Kinoite 43 idle for more then 15 minuites. It always goes to sleep no mater what the settings are. The same happens on all desktops and laptops.

Turning power management from the Panel (Status and Notifications) To Blocked stops it sleeping but resets to automatic after a restart.

I have tried all so called solutions I can find on Forums, from Google and ChatGPT suggestions etc. All settings are set to “Never” and I have tried all the suggested changes that can be made in the terminal.

Hi,

I wonder where you have found that. I see nothing like that in the panel nor in the KDE System Settings. I do have this in the KDE System Settings:
System --> Power Management --> Suspend session --> When inactive.
When you look there what does it say?

Also, have a look here:
Security & privacy --> Screen locking --> Lock screen automatically
What do you see there?

I am still on Plasma 6.5.3 so there might be a change in 6.5.4 which I don’t have yet. Will get to the latest updates within a few days, haven’t been able to update for 3 weeks now.
I looked at the KDE changes for 6.5.4 and there is no mentioning for changes in the System settings. But you refer to the panel, is the panel which normally is placed at the bottom of the screen

Are you sure the laptop goes to sleep? Is it not just the monitor which is locked to prevent somebody else working with the it?

Click on the arrow in the system tray and it should be one of the options you see:

Hi, thanks for the reply.
That is exactly where I found it. The tray at the bottom of the screen is referred to as the panel on my desktop.
Of course it has to be selected every time I restart as it reverts to automatic every time.

Sorry, I did make an embarrassing error as I should have known better. Screen locking was my issue, not sleeping.
What had me confused was that screen locking was set for 180 minutes not 15 minutes which was the actual time it took to lock.
The other PC had screen locking set to 5 minutes but it always waited 15 minutes before locking??
I set screen locking to never on all computers and now my issue is fixed.

Thank you,
Vince.

That’s weird - it should remember your settings.

There are two relevant screens in the System Settings app:

  1. Power Management
  2. Screen Locking

Have you set both of these to your preferred settings, and do they get reset when you restart?
