Can't start Kinote. Both OS-Tree versions fail to boot

My first post here. I’m relatively new to Linux and Kinoite, so be gentle.

Last night I used Discovery to install various updates. Everything seemed to go fine until I rebooted. After a few seconds, I received the following message:

You are in emergency mode. After logging in…
Cannot open access to console, the root account is locked.
See sulogin(8) man page for more details.
Press Enter to continue.

If I press Enter, I get a > prompt, but nothing I type appears on the screen.

So I decided to start with the prior OS-Tree snapshot (which was working perfectly before the update) and figure things out from there. But I get exactly the same result!

At the moment, there is no way for me to boot this computer or even get to a shell where I can investigate.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I suggest you create a live kde usb image and use that to investigate the problem.
Often the emergency shell means there is an issue with the file system.

Seems a good idea. I’ll try that next.

Thanks
