Can't see mouse cursor after kernel update

Hi all,

I am currently facing an issue with my Fedora Cinnamon install (on VirtualBox), ever since updating my system and getting a newer kernel, I can no longer see my cursor – I still actually have one, I just cannot see it. This started with kernel 7.1.13, and going back I could still see my cursor; but since trying to fix it, I don’t have a cursor on any kernel.

The fixes I have tried in the VM include:
• Changing the cursor size and theme with gsettings.
• Resetting cinnamon with “gsettings reset-recursively org.cinnamon”.
• Updating with “—refresh”.
• Forcing a cursor with xsetroot.

I did notice that when resizing my cursor, at a large enough size (i.e. 72), I would be able to see the text selection cursor, but only in the terminal.

As for the VM itself, I have tried:
• Disabling 3d Acceleration.
• Changing the pointing device to/from PS/2 Mouse and USB Tablet. I have also tried disabling either of them using xinput to get Fedora to register a new entry.
• Reinstalled Guest Additions.
• Toggled mouse integration on and off.

At this point I still cannot get a cursor to draw on the screen, does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks in advance.

If you haven’t got too tangled up in F44 yet try F45 workstation and

sudo dnf group install cinnamon-desktop

The update of F44 Cinnamon spin was way too slow for me.

I might have to try that to be honest, I reinstalled 44, updated my kernel, and the problem came back. I’d rather stay on 44 until release, however.
I tried running that, just in case anything was missing - nothing was found to be installed.
