Can't log in on Fedora 41 (GNOME) with Wayland when mouse keys is enabled

After updating to Fedora 41 and switching to Wayland I can no longer log in while mouse keys is enabled. It just returns back to the login screen after a moment.

The only way for me to log in was to run the following command in a TTY:

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.a11y.keyboard mousekeys-enable false

I have also tested this on a clean VM install and the same problem is encountered.

I’m not sure if it would’ve been better to open an issue on the gnome-shell or gdm repositories, as I haven’t tested this on any other distro.

Has anyone else encountered this? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi and welcome to :fedora: [1]

This is a known issue. See this long thread, as well as the information about the fix upstream.

  1. EDIT: I’ve just noticed - first time poster, but not new to Fedora. Welcome to the conversation then. ↩︎

Thanks! This worked for me too on the config of
Fedora 41 + Gnome Wayland + Nvidia
