What am I doing wrong?
Can’t RDP into my Fedora machine from a Windows 10 machine (just times out). Is there something I’m missing?
The connection is probably being blocked by your local firewall. Another possibility is that your network routing is misconfigured. Can you ping your Fedora Linux box from your Windows PC?

Hmmm. So I went into the firewall settings on the Fedora PC and noticed that the “rdp” service was unticked in the “home” zone (that’s the zone my Fedora machine is using) (this is on KDE). So I ticked it and tried again from the Windows PC. This got me some progress but didn’t work either. Basically now instead of just timing out, attempting to connect will now see the Fedora PC and prompt to connect anyway despite the usual certificate errors from the Fedora PC. But even when I click “yes”, it attempts to connect, then the screen flashes on the Windows PC and then quickly disappears. Then it just dumps me back to the RDP connection prompt.
Yes, I can ping the Fedora PC from the Windows PC.
Edit: Nevermind. Got it working. Turns out I had to click that little down arrow on the rdp dialogue on the Windows PC to reveal the rest of the UI and manually input my Fedora PC’s user account name. This then caused a password prompt to appear when attempting to connect. Once I input my Fedora user password, it worked!
Kinda threw me off there as when rdp’ing from one Windows PC to another Windows PC, you don’t need to take this manual step as the rdp program on Windows will normally automatically prompt the user to input the username and password when it detects these credentials aren’t working. But I guess it doesn’t do that when attempting to connect from Windows to Linux. The Windows PC should really have prompted the user to say the credentials it was trying to use were incorrect instead of just literally flashing the screen briefly and then dumping back to desktop with zero indication as to what went wrong.
