Hey, everybody.
I have Windows 10 and Fedora 40 on my laptop. Everything worked fine through Grub. I haven’t used the laptop for a few days, but when I turned it on. I could barely boot into Win 10 after uninstalling the latest update. Secureboot is off.
What to do?
Updates sometimes push a storage device that has reached end-of-life into failure.
The 3rd image shows Fedora attempting to repair the filesystem, which can take a long time. I hope the repair succeeds and Fedora boots properly. If not, you may need to reinstall Fedora and restore user data from backups. I would first check the status of your mass storage. There are often tools from the drive vendor that run in Windows or as a bootable USB key, or you can use Gnome DIsks in the Fedora Live installer to check drive health.
Thanks for your answer.
I found the problem. When I booted up Window 10 again, I got a new Intel driver RST update. I checked the Bios settings and they were back to basic. Reconfigured everything and Fedora booted again.
It’s very strange why the settings reset. Maybe Acer’s Bios is of poor quality.
Windows updates have been causing issues with linux recently. I’ve also seen changes to Dell UEFI settings after a Windows update – just removed Windows 10 from this system to end the time wasting.
