Hello, I’m fairly new to Linux and considering getting a Radeon Pro V520 (Navi12, same silicon as BC‑160).
From what I have read, this card has MxGPU / SR‑IOV enabled in its factory VBIOS. And ai told me that because mxgpu I can not use it to palying game or get dirver suppurt.
My main questions:
Can this card work normally for desktop gaming under Fedora with mainline amdgpu driver? Vulkan performance, Steam / Proton games?
Is there any way inside Fedora / mainline kernel to permanently disable the MxGPU SR‑IOV function on this card?
Because i can get one at a really decent price at a second hand shop here.I have a cpu and
all the other things that I no longer use,so I am wondering about buying a V520 to build a linux PC.
You can get them cheap because they aren’t intended for desktop use, and don’t even appear to have any sort of IO ports to connect an external monitor.
These were indended for server / datacenter use and not desktop PC gaming.
