One thing I like about Fedora is the support for smart cards/digital certificates out of the box. Debian-based distros require installation of additional opensc/pcsc and lib packages, along with manual installation of certificates in Firefox. Fedora makes this easy from first-login.
My issue is, when my smart card is inserted (internal laptop card reader) browsers slow to a crawl. This occurs in both Firefox and Chromium. Neither browser will finish loading a website, or closing a tab, until the card is removed. Does this sound like a browser issue, or additional smart card setup I haven’t completed? I use a Dell Latitude 7310 with an internal smart card reader, running Fedora 34 MATE.
