Built-in microphone has loud static and crackling on Lenovo IdeaPad 3 14IML05 after moving from Windows

  1. What is the issue?

Description: I recently completely switched my laptop from Windows 11 to Fedora. On Windows, my built-in microphone worked flawlessly for Google Meet calls with great quality. However, when trying to make a call yesterday, I was told my voice sounded awful. I went to diagnose it by recording a test video in the built-in Camera app, and my voice is buried under unbearable, incredibly loud static and constant aggressive crackling noises.

Error Messages: No explicit error messages or codes appear—the hardware is detected, but the captured audio stream is completely distorted and corrupted.

Kernel: 7.1.4-204.fc44.x86_64
Audio Server Framework: PipeWire / WirePlumber

  1. What have you tried so far?

Restarted the laptop multiple times.
Verified that it isn’t a physical hardware breakdown (the microphone worked cleanly on Windows 11 just days prior).

Is the issue reproducible if you use a Live USB or Workstation and or KDE Plasma?

i don’t know about kde plasma but i just tried using the live usb and yes, it’s the same
