Have had Fedora for 15+ years. Tried to upgrade to v44 - from v42 - but got black screen.
Got a v44 dvd and tried to install from scratch.
Seemed to work but wouldn’t load. Found in BIOs Setup Utility; under “Boot Options” that “1st Boot Device” is listed as “[Hard Disk]” with no name
Under “Advanced”, “Integrated Peripherals” ,“Device type” is Hard Disk and “Device name” is WDCWD5.[number]..… which is the correct name as I recall from previous.
So the correct Disk name is there but not available in the immediate boot usage.
Can I correct this?
Does grub load and present a menu, or does the “wouldn’t load” occur before grub itself?
When reporting an issue it can help both you and others with similar hardware and issues if you post the output (as web-discoverable pre-formatted text) from running inxi -ezxx in a terminal (you may need to install inxi). This should show what storage devices are recognized.
On switching on I get:
“reboot and select proper Boot Device or insert Boot Media in selected device”
