Boot Failure on Fedora 41 - 6.12.4-200.fc41.x86_64. T

Hi Fedora Friends,

I’ve been encountering a boot issue on Fedora 41 with my Dell XPS 9315 (BIOS version 1.24.0). The problem started with kernel version 6.11.11-300.fc41.x86_64 and persists in the latest kernel 6.12.4-200.fc41.x86_64. The system fails to transition to userspace during the boot process. Secure Boot is enabled, and previous kernels (before 6.11.11-300.fc41.x86_64) work fine.

I’ve filed a bug report with all relevant details and logs here: Bugzilla Report #2332554.

If anyone has encountered a similar issue or has insights into what might be causing the problem, I’d greatly appreciate your input. Also, if there are additional steps or logs I should collect to assist in debugging, please let me know.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Cheers,
Igor

Same here on XPS 16 9640 (0C62)

Federico, I updated the ticket, the rawhide kernel fixes the issue. Haven’t got back from the redhatters on this, but that’s a good news.

Hi Igor. 6.12.5-200.fc41.x86_64 just released works like a charm.

Federico, you have the same XPS as me, any chance you got your webcam to work in fedora?

Hi Chris! I don’t want to go off-topic, but it only worked (poorly) in the browser until kernel 6.11. I wasn’t able to use the webcam in the Camera app or in Zoom. Check for intel MIPI on fedora. There is also an open discussion about it from some red hat guys pushing for a solution.
