Hello,
I’m a friendly neighbour from another distro.
My girlfriend brought a new desktop and I installed fedora 41 on it.
I installed it keeping all the default partitioning and choosing to encrypt the installation.
I installed fedora it’s own ssd and kept windows on another one (just in case she needs to use specific software like ableton live).
I then installed the nvidia proprietary drivers and everything seems to work (except the suspend which is sometimes broken but I’ll open a separate issue for this).

The issue is that when I boot, I have a black screen right after the grub menu.
The only way to boot is to use the plymouth.enable=0
parameter which allows me to access a text LUKS prompt.
I tried to test plymouth.use-simpledrm
instead. In this case I see the simpledrm prompt for half a second before the black screen.
The black screen doesn’t allow me to blindly type the password, but the Numlock light can be activated on the keyboard.
I just upgraded to F42 in hope for a magical resolution of this bugm, but the problem persists.
I also change the UEFI parameters to force the eGPU as primary GPU without success…
Anyone can help on this issue ?
Thank you in advance

ok i wanna update:
i did bios update deactivated igpu and then installed the akmod-nvidia-open
like mentioned here:
As always, very helpfull community! With your help I made it working, thank you!
If anyone have similar question, here are the steps that I had to do. Yesterday I was able to install latest drivers from nvidia page, but it worked partially: GPU was visible in nvidia settings, nvidia-smi was also detecting it, but monitors was not detected and I was not able to change resolution. After removing drivers and installing open-ones from rpmfusion-nonfree-tainted it still did not worked…

I’m glad you found a solution !
None of the above worked for me, it’s a pretty common issue according to the number of people asking for help here but nobody seems to know what’s causing it

Thank you for pointing this out but it is not the same issue.
In my case Plymouth doesn’t stay long enough on screen for me to log in. It just flashes and then I have black screen (if I use simpledrm. If not it doesn’t appear at all and I just have the black screen)

I have the same problem.
What i like to mention is that the plymouth just pops-up on the Nvidia GPU and then goes to the On-board GPU. If i switch the monitor cable to the On-board GPU the keyboard input starts working as well.
