as title says Battery keeps everytime drop to 5% after it each to 30% charge and preparing to suspend on F41 workstation. Checked battery health and it shows all good excellent on Dell Bios, KDE shows 85% battery health still so not battery issue. i run default Workstation 41 on Gnome
Batteries tend to suddenly fail in spite of what monitoring software may say. It would appear that yours is almost gone and probably should be replaced soon.
this dosent happen on other distros i have installed on side
The hardware (battery and charging/monitoring sensors) is the same.
Software is different between different distros so displayed information may be different.
Does your laptop’s bios have a battery health report?
I have seen this on Dell laptops for example.
What does it say the state of the battery is?
If no bios status how old is the laptop?
dell bios
battery health good
laptop age 2 years
I think that rules out battery failure.
Yes and arch linux or popOS 24.04 i have side installed don’t do this behavior
did fresh install on bare metal using F41 beta iso and updated system and the battery issue has been resolved… not sure what fixed it, but it now dosent jump to 5% and starting suspend anymore
FYI
The same was with me a couple years ago.
Laptop = DELL Latitude (not new)
OS = Fedora LXQT
I just returned the laptop to the seller.
And changed it to another.
seen similar issues on this 2 year path randomly and never have been battery issues and fixed when correct update comes.
usually if battery is dead it drops way more and charges really fast
