I’m new to Linux and Fedora. I just installed both Fedora GNOME and Fedora KDE Plasma on VMWare to compare them. I watched some youtube videos and the browser/the OS became laggy as soon as the video played. I tried to install ffmpeg, group Multimedia,… but nothing worked. Then when I booted KDE, I saw the lag on KDE startup splash screen and distorted audio. I realized that the audio may cause the problem. And that was true, I muted the video and the stuttering went away on both distros. But now how can I fix that issue?
Muting system sound doesn’t help. Only muting the media player/its container (for example, muting the youtube video, or muting the youtube tab) stops the issue. I also run Windows 7 and Windows 11 Canary on VM and they play media fine.
