Audio, microphone and internet issues

Hi, I have been using fedora 42 since October of 2025, when i first downloaded it i had no issues that weren’t uncommon/ easy fixes but this issue I’ve ran into has been a lot harder to find. First it was my audio and microphone. Even when my volume is max it doesn’t work on my games, my browser but it does on Vlc media player (for movies i already have downloaded). I have tried multiple things like updated pipewire i believe its called, only for that to cause a whole new issue (only sound outputs were dummy audio). I fixed this but it went back to my sound not working on anything besides VLC. My microphones, internal and external also do not work.

With my internet this issue arose while I was fixing my audio, any video on my browsers don’t load, forums and games do but they load much slower than before. It is not an issue with my router as the wifi on my phone, console and other laptop work just fine.

I am up to date with all software updates, I was wondering if I could get any help on these particular issues as they’ve made my laptop feel unusable over the last couple of days. Any help would be much appreciated!!! Thanks guys

I answered you in the other topic:

Is this your Hardware? Are you still on F42.

If yes give it a try on the other post, and execute the instructions I gave there.

Hi, I have been trying to sort this out sorry for not replying on the other post, I wrote a mistake and meant to write 43 not 42. I tried the solution from the other post and it doesn’t seem to be working

Can you please post more information about your system?
The Topic below shows you how.

P.S.
Welcome to Fedora @9bdilahi

Yes this way is ok :bluethumb:

By the way, you not need to answer in the other topic. I just made it easier to apply the change for users with Asus notebooks.

Have you undone the changes ? Did you have a file there ? If not you can delete it again.

Have you tested to boot into an other kernel?
If no, while rebooting pres Esc key and enter with an older Kernel.

I did what was said for the asus notebooks but when i checked for the file it wasn’t there, i checked again since i followed the steps there and there is now a file there called
options snd-intel-dspcfg.dsp_driver=1, should i delete and if so how?
I will try boot into another kernel.
Many thanks, I’ll return with the results

Edit
Ive loaded into a different kernel and the issue is still here

I think the file is called

/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
# with the line/conten in it:
options snd-intel-dspcfg.dsp_driver=1

To remove it just do:

sudo rm /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

To check if it is gone:

sudo cat /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
# the output should be:
# cat: /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf: No such file or directory

Removed and it gives the right output, what should i try next
