ASUS ROG Zenith II Alpha Extreme wifi firmware does not load on Fedora 33 boot

Days of research have led to one dead end after another. I have tried the iwlwifi vanilla firmware installed with F33 “dnf install iwl7260-firmware” and the dkms backport driver. I have checked the BIOS settings and searched the internet far and wide for a solution and nothing works. I read a post about the asus_wmi / eeepc_wmi blocking the wifi on some laptops, but none of the module configuration changes I have made have any effect probably because this is a desktop. I noticed the regulator-db was not being loaded at the startup. Secure boot is not enabled and I tried self-signing the kernel modules with no effect. I was sure with the 5.10 kernel I wouldn’t be having these kind of problems. I need some wisdom how to resolve this issue.
