Asahi Mac M1 install stuck on partioning for hours

Hey guys. Today I decided to go ahead and install Asahi on my old M1 MacBook Air. I watched a couple of videos on it first and then started. I didn’t get far. It’s been stuck at 76.2% for almost three hours now. The little spinner on the left is still going, but it’s made no progress at all.

It has a 1 TB drive and I gave it 65 gig, so it’s been working on resizing to that. I had 460 gig free on the drive, fwiw.

Do I just let it keep going?

Thanks!

Edit: A few more hours have passed and it’s now up to 76.5%. At this rate it might be done by Spring.

Something is wrong, exit / quit and start again.

You need to resolve the orphan/invalid xattr before partitioning This may take multiple iterations of the Apple Disks First Aid, or in worst case, reinstall of macOS.

How do I get my missing 50 gig back? I did quit it finally last night and even though it was going to take 64 gig, 50 of that has now vanished. Disk Util doesn’t see it; thinks its still part of the drive, but my free space is down by 50.

Is it possible the system ran out of space in the past? You can end up with inaccessible data that subsequent filesystem repair has recovered.
