Hummingbird is not really FOSS is it? If not, maybe https://opensource.net/ would be a better venue and/or it could be promoted on Fedora’s social media channels (Facebook, etc.).

Project Hummingbird is completely open source and based on Fedora. We’re working with the Fedora council to introduce this into the Fedora ecosystem.

OK then. I’ll give a +1 vote for this article. You can upload your content here: Magazine - Dashboard and we’ll review it for publication.

Thanks!

Awesome - thank you!

Following up on this; the article is uploaded and awaiting review. Note that I’d like to be in touch about the timing of the article being published.

It looks like the cover image needs to be scaled to 1890x800. Also, we usually overlay the title text on the cover image to be sure the title is displayed prominently in various feed readers.

You can request a specific date for publication, if you have a preference?

In the Fedora ecosystem, we usually don’t append “Linux” to all the titles. Is “Fedora Hummingbird Linux” the official name of the project? I would have expected that to be “Fedora Hummingbird”. “Fedora Linux” is used to refer to all of the Fedora Editions/Spins/Labs/Containers collectively.

Members of the Fedora community contributed the bootable containers work that underpins Fedora Hummingbird Linux, and today, those members are continuing this work as part of Hummingbird.

That might be a little bit of a run-on sentence. I would suggest:

Members of the Fedora community contributed the bootable containers work that underpins Fedora Hummingbird Linux. Now those members are continuing the work as part of Hummingbird.

@nhr @glb I will resize the image and replace it.

That background has both very light and very dark areas spread out evenly. It might be tricky to get the contrast right for the text.

@glb will this be adequate?

I don’t think it is great, but I’m not sure if it’s possible to do much better with that image. Maybe if you moved the blue background to a separate layer, then lightened all the birds, then you would have a consistently light background on which a black text would stand out?

Also, I’m still not sure about “Fedora Hummingbird Linux”. I saw that it was just referred to as “Fedora Hummingbird” in one place in the text. I think we should use just “Fedora Hummingbird” everywhere consistently, including in the title. Also, where possible, we should spell out the abbreviations (i.e. OS → operating system).

I’m not sure. Do you think this is any better?

That’s workable.

I’ll upload the SVG to the Media Library if you want to experiment with it more. I was just using GIMP.

It might help a little to bump up the size of “Fedora Hummingbird”.

Thanks - I’ve made this change.

Regarding the publication date, can this go live on May 12th at 8:00 am US ET?
