The new major version 9.0 of the Ardour Digital Audio Workstation will soon be available as the ardour9 package in a testing repository near you! These packages can be installed in parallel with the previous version, which is available in the ardour8 package.
Please check the upstream release notes for details about new features and changes in this version. One thing not mentioned there is that plugins still using version 2 of the GTK libraries likely won’t work any longer, so I suggest to keep using the older version for existing projects, especially if they use affected plugins. In any case, making backup copies before opening existing projects with this new version is probably a good idea!
