Any thoughts on the new ThinkPad X9 14 Aura Edition

Hi everyone,

Does anyone have any thoughts on the new Lenovo ThinkPad X9 14 Aura Edition laptop?

It looks like a great laptop to me and I would like to buy it, but on Reddit I can read that some drivers aren’t supported yet…

Is it a good computer to run Fedora? Will it be fully supported soon? Or could I better lookf or another device? I do prefer very thin and leightweight as I travel a lot. Suggestions for the best possible Linux laptop are more than welcome!

Thanks!

Kind regards,

Geoffrey

Someone get me one and I’ll let you know all about it :stuck_out_tongue:

Specs at quick glance don’t look too-specialized (not sure what an Ultra processor is but doesn’t sound flagship); I don’t see anything necessarily preventing Fedora or Linux running on it.

Drivers are often not supported on the newest laptops and hardware.
Do listen to those intuitions and go with a laptop - even a couple of years old - that will work out-of-the-box. It will save you a lot of headaches later. Laptops have been so very performant for years now, you won’t really miss anything by not buying bleeding-edge.

@gbeulque You can follow the process / progress here, of getting the Lenovo ThinkPad X9 (Fedora) Linux ready…

Thanks for all the answers. And especially for sharing the link to the Lenovo Forum where the topic is being discussed.

I love the newest designs and hardware :stuck_out_tongue: I’d rather just compile my own kernel with some fixes rather than using an old model. I just need somebody who has done it already and shares their solution
