As this is a beta release, we expect that you may encounter bugs or missing features. You can try out Fedora Asahi Remix 42 Beta by following our installation guide. Existing systems, running Fedora Asahi Remix 40 or 41, can be updated following the usual Fedora upgrade process.
I’ve been testing this on my Macbook Air M1 (8GB) this weekend and it is incredibly usable. Testing under Gnome shows I could probably get 8-10 hours of battery life on a charge, which is similar to what I’m getting under macOS. Chromium seems to work fine, VS Code has just fixed a bug which seems to get it working fine. Microphone works in some apps so clearly just a matter of time until it’s working everywhere. And it’s snappy - things just load, no notable stutters.
I think this moves it into my personal “daily driver” territory, and the progress from my last test a year ago is phenomenal for such a “weird” set of laptops. Well done
