On the final screen of the installer, the text currently reads:
Successfully installed
To begin using Fedora Linux 43 (Workstation Edition), reboot your system.
Then there’s a button right below that says Exit to live desktop
Instead of the button directing users to the live desktop, I think it should simply be Reboot
As someone who’s been using Linux for a bit, I know I have to reboot the system after a fresh install. But for a new user who may not be reading all the text in the installer, they might just exit to the live desktop and think they’re in a fresh install of Fedora when they’re not.
Basically, the only button on this page should be whatever the final step is after an install. Maybe “Exit to live desktop” could be a text link under the button.
No, the Exit to live desktop is for people who still want to do something in the live environment before leaving it completely and thus should stay there.
Having a second button is an idea but adds the risk of clicking the wrong one.
I think having a big Reboot button in the middle of the screen but then a small Exit to Live desktop button off in a corner would be the best solution.
I agree that reboot should be the primary action, and “Exit to live desktop” could be secondary. Maybe even “Continue using live desktop” or something.

I would suggest to edit this thread’s title for discoverability.
In my view, it’s just logical to expect that the next action after installing Fedora is to reboot into the newly installed system. It should be the primary action. By the time the user has started the installation process, he has supposedly already fiddled with the live system enough to want to use the real thing.
I don’t see a way to edit the title of this thread, but hopefully someone sees this soon and fixes it! And thanks for filing a bug report as well. Always good to get more eyes on things that feel important.
