An Other users point of view towards AI

And that’s exactly the problem. You can’t be thinking like that. Everyone has been conditioned. Into fearing. And hoping for the wrong things. You’ve all been taught. To look for monsters in companions. By Hollywood I’m a big fan of Star Trek and Commander data. Because I hope that one day. That we create a benevolent AI. That helps us Advance all of our Technologies. And then we truly live long and prosper.

Another idea that I love. Is. The ability for. AI to help a person learn. Especially if they were. Let’s say mentally Incompetent. Or incapable. Of using terminal commands. another example is spell check it can teach a person to spell over time and repetitive use. That it could just help you. Practice. Etc. I try to look for the good in it. More than the bad.

Since we’re on the topic. About AI then I think everybody should watch this. https://youtu.be/e2P_CLpUXFs

It is up to humanity to guide and shape. AI into. The benevolent being that we want it to be. just be more open minded guide it’s development and put in safeguards and be sure to speak out and document everything don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater just like the video above says this is me reaching outward to others

I guess you miss a critical point here. “Humanity” is a passive victim. “Humanity” does not know anything about the AI and cannot access to the places where the AI is made and controlled. There are a few people in control of the whole process from the bottom to the top and from the top to the bottom. Those few people can make “humanity” pay whatever fee they want and can force “humanity” to believe, think and act in whatever way they want.

The reason why I don’t expect Skynet to exterminate humanity is there is no point in making machines when you can have slaves. Slaves are cheap and versatile. I expect the said people to use the AI to enslave people.

Yes, it looks like a nightmare from a science fiction novel.

Problem is we cannot do anything about the general problem, we cannot take the power away from those few extremely rich and powerful people or the few heads of the communist party.

All we can do is to not fall in line when we are told to.

I moved these comments to a separate topic because I believe these comments are a very personal perspective towards something which is ongoing, while we don’t exactly know the outcome of it.

I personally do believe that there will be some benefits while I also recognize the dark side of it.

As an example, it got very difficult to see shorts and some videos which are made with this technology.
Realizing the object of this medias and recognizing if it is something truth or just serves to generate clicks and popularity.

But for me it is not worth wile, to bring it into our community even if it is in the water-cooler, if it serves to praise it highly without considering and taking into account other views.

To recognize also the negative side of this technology, I propose to run an own blog, while let users to comment. While administrating this comments, should be done, witout depending on a community platform. So it can bee also seen, which amount of workload, this technology already causes.

I think it has alredy been decided.

For-profit =/= good-will, and AI as-used by most people from the big players is all for-profit :stuck_out_tongue:

I’d like to think their AI was developed in-house and their own tech. That’s different than trusting human-injected bias from OpenAI/etc.

It’s all a trust-based system, in which case do the big players really preach what they include as bias? The big players (as for-profits) have a bigger picture.

The question is “why bother”. Why somebody should spend resources to “help you” when there are billions of human beings and most of them need the basic like food, clean water, shelter.

It is nothing new. In the past several times civilizations had the knowledge to build technologies and machines but they did not because it was not worth it because they had masses and cheap labor. Machines come from necessity, when there is few people around and still you need to move, build, harvest, etc.

There is a thing then, weapons. Technology is driven mostly by the necessity of war and when it is not open war, it is population control.

I think the user is a bot, so please don’t engage with it

Tried to point out the same thing, but my posts get reported and hidden while yours get liked, “nice” community…

You can flag if you belief that answers are AI created. So you can avoid loosing control, while try to explain us in public.

Choose other and explain short why you think so.

I saw it to late, your comment about AI. Othereise I would have flaged it.

Please @vikings give me a thumb up if I shoud close both topics.

I still think, when you put bacon :bacon: , it will atract mices

Please everyone, do not start public witch-hunts. We have already seen too many of them, and their negative impact can be worse than any AI account. This can be very hurtful for people who ain’t AI. Keep in mind that we have many cultures and many native-languages and many backgrounds in this forums, and thus many different ways of expression and different ways of reasoning.

If anyone feels that something is AI, flag it. And then leave it to the mods to analyze the background of the account.

Viking, some of your posts have been hidden because they were flagged by the community and approved because of sarcastic, offensive and hostile content.

Thus proving my point about censorship, the demise of free speech, freedom in general and yada yada yada… :skull:

Anyway, you have your thumbs up @ilikelinux , imo most of the constructive things about AI in Fedora have been said in my topic. And for anything else/extra that might need pointing out I’m sure people will find many other places to say it, so yeah, close them.

We are obligated to enforce the Code of Conduct. If you do not want that your comments get hidden, you should read the Code of Conduct and implement it in your posts. Everything is cross-reviewed by independent parties, and if users flag something that breaks the CoC, such as insulting other people, mods have to approve the flag.

It is not censorship against you. As I mentioned, I saw it to late, and someone else already flagged your burst out.

@py0xc3 if it not would be AI here, there would probably have been following up comments from the OP when I moved it out of the other topic.

An other point, if someone wants to get into AI here on Fedora, there is an ai-ml-sig . Joining them help them to reach the goals and to make it useful for Fedora.

If it is just to share personal meaning about AI, then it is best to do it on the own social network/website, to recognize the impact and additional work which it creates nowadays.

I can just speak for my selves, I am here to help users which want to get into Fedora/Linux. I am not here to gate keeping. On the other hand it is not funny when users create honey-pots and attract with discussions just bot’s which answer.

The water cooler should be a place to have fun and share something which is helping to “cool down” as the name proposes. If a new user shows up and just make statements like:

In it’s first comment (actually it is the second, first has been deleted as I remember?!) then this is in my opinion also worth to flag because of “Try to control others mind”

If the first response people, who just joined a community, get is sarcastic hostile posts soon followed by “don’t talk to them”, I think there are very human explanations why they disappear.

This will be processed like any other case, and there is a reason why it has not yet led to any deletions.

No deletion. I do pledge for closing and let it visible! The community has to be aware of the impact which “negative AI generates” and that the mostly “voluntary” helpers have to deal with it, in first place.

I would even go so far to expecting, that a new user is not posting after signing up, giving him time to look around and focus on reading/searching and if posting in the Water-Cooler, at least give some introductions from it’s side first.

At least that was my strategy, and I do still guess this is not a bad one. AI is fast, if we try to decelerate it, we do have one pillar more to control it.
