Alerts about lost network connection every time I unlock

I am disconnected from wifi (and no cabled connections) on purpose with my laptop when I don’t actively need internet.
Every time I unlock it after it been locked by inactivity I get a popup saying:

”No Network Connection
You are no longer connected to a network”

My question is: Does that mean it connects to something during inactivity/sleep/lock mode?

I think it is more of a reminder that you have no network connection.

If you manually disconnected it would remain disconnected and if you had not connected since the last boot it would also remain disconnected. In both cases the unlocking seems to attempt verifying connection and when nothing is available it reminds you of that fact.

Thanks. It’s what I think as well.
I’m just not 100%.

I’ve tried disconnecting the stationary PC as well, and the same doesn’t happen there.
