How can this situation be cleaned up to get the necessary missing packages ? Are they really necessary to have ?

Thank you

Before trying anything more elaborate, can you do:

sudo dnf update --refresh

Looks like there have been some recent pushes of related packages, so I wonder if you just need the --refresh to get your repo data into a consistent state.

However, this user gets the same result with --refresh so I don’t know whether that will help after all, sorry.

Hi, I ran sudo dnf update --refresh got the following read-out:

Greetings

@magic did you a new Fedora 43 installation or an update from a lower version?

It is interesting that there is a conflict in between @ system and update !

Suggestion - but I don’t know for sure it will work:

sudo dnf update --advisory=FEDORA-2025-0c9aa5a428 --enablerepo=updates-testing

There is a solution. Downgrading the krunner

TLDR: Downgrading the Kf6Runner with
sudo dnf downgrade kf6-krunner
fixed it for me

Does that fix both issues though? I know it fixes the application launcher issue (which OP here hasn’t mentioned experiencing), but does it fix these gstreamer dependencies?

It looks like. The other new user had also gstremer error. There is a newer krunner available, while this one is pushing the newer

The older apps are still on the older version. So depending on older dependencies.

This should be fixed by the update pushed to stable a few minutes ago.

dnf --refresh upgrade should now work without conflicts, though you may need to wait a little time for the update to propagate to local mirrors.

I updated from Fed 42.
The update went pretty smoothly.

Hi what does the "downgrading do to the system ? What is the status afterwards?

HI, that was my question too.
What does the "downgrading accomplish ?

Warm greetings,

Hi PG, maybe I ran it too early… I’ll wait a few hours and try again, or els tommorow. What do you think ?

magic

You can either:

  1. Wait some time for the update to propagate to your local mirrors
  2. Or enable the “updates-archive” repo. This doesn’t have mirroring so will be up to date, but potentially slower:
sudo dnf install fedora-repos-archive
sudo dnf config-manager setopt updates-archive.enabled=no
sudo dnf --refresh upgrade --enablerepo=updates-archive

Hi, I’ll wait, (practice patience) rather than rush it. If the first option doesn’t work, then i can try your second option.

Sometimes , waiting is a good thing !

greetings,

Magic

Had the same issue after jumping from F42 Gnome to F43; sudo dnf update --refresh has helped. Thanks.

Hi Igor, thank you for the newest information.
I ran it and now it seems to have completed the package.

Thanks to all who have contributed their input to this problem.
