Hey folks, if you’re preparing a featured image for the Magazine, and you use a photo background (as we usually do), remember to scale that image down before you put it in your SVG in Inkscape, to a 1890x800 size. A quality of 75-80% is usually fine – I convert these in GIMP.
The resulting SVG file should be more like 100-300KB, as opposed to 2+ MB. One recent file is 17 MB in size! This makes the git repository grow enormously fast and then harder for people to pull down if they’re just getting started helping us.
