I constantly get a mesage, “Connection failed”. “Activation of network connection failed” .
But I do have Internet connection and it is working.
So I am confused and would like to stop the message from showing up all the time.
I get it with and without VPN.
Is anyone aware of this problem?
Is there a solution?
Thank you, have a nice day…
Will your share the setup with the folks here?
# just maybe.
dnf upgrade
systemctl reboot
# this app copies the output to clipboard (Wayland)
dnf install wl-clipboard
# the same for Xorg (change wl-copy below to xclip -sel cli)
dnf install xclip
Updated:
# after executing a line ending with a wl-copy
# your've the output of the line stored in your clipboard
# use Ctrl + v or paste it with a mouse in your post;
# then run the next lines
regEx='(^[0-9]+|Kernel driver in use|Kernel modules)'
# create a @regEx with the above contents
lspci -v| grep -E "${regEx}"| wl-copy
# paste it there, please (Your PCI devices and their drivers)
a=`nmcli -p g` # `command` output is assigned to @a (same below)
b=`nmcli -p d`
# create both @a and @b with the above contents.
echo -e "${a}\n\n${b}"| wl-copy # \n is a newline character
# paste it there, please (what NetworkManager knows about your Net)
uname -a| wl-copy
# paste it there, please (yours kernel, arch, and release of Fedora)
# note that there is no a $ sign we used before to distinguish a variable
unset regEx a b
# clean-up ;)
Hi, I got as far as dnf install xclip.
After that I am not sure how to enter the text that you have given. With or without sudo,one line at a time or combined. Also this is confusing for me: ```
the same for Xorg (change wl-copy below to xclip -sel cli)
Sorry but I am not so tech savvy. I need exact clear steps to follow ev. with screen shots when necessary / possible. Up to this point dnf xclip is installed after that I got lost with inserting commands. Hope this helps you to understand my situation.
There is, of course, an easier way to do this that doesn’t require you to install anything. Simply use the program tee, which you’ve already got because it’s part of coreutils and was installed when you first installed Fedora. To give an example of how it works:
uname -a | tee out.txt
will both show you the results on the screen and put them into the file out.txt, ready to be copied and pasted into a reply here. HTH, HAND.
Since I am not sure how exactly to enter the text, I tried several variations. Here are the results:
[frank@linux ~]$ sudo -a | tee out.txt sudo: option requires an argument -- 'a' usage: sudo -h | -K | -k | -V usage: sudo -v [-AknS] [-g group] [-h host] [-p prompt] [-u user] usage: sudo -l [-AknS] [-g group] [-h host] [-p prompt] [-U user] [-u user] [command] usage: sudo [-AbEHknPS] [-r role] [-t type] [-C num] [-g group] [-h host] [-p prompt] [-T timeout] [-u user] [VAR=value] [-i|-s] [<command>] usage: sudo -e [-AknS] [-r role] [-t type] [-C num] [-g group] [-h host] [-p prompt] [-T timeout] [-u user] file ... [frank@linux ~]$ -a | tee out.txt bash: -a: command not found... IfI need to enter it again, then I need to know EXACTLY how.
Sorry if I am a bit slow with the tech talk.
try read logs from NetworkManager.service .
sudo journalctl -f -u NetworkManager.service #keep this command running .
When somebody gives you a command to run, as I did, you’re intended to enter it exactly as given.

One line at a time, just as given, without sudo? Meaning just enter one line then enter and then the next line, enter etc.
Sometimes I don’t know what is supposed to be together and what is separated and where is the separation. I am learning by doing, I’m not a programmer. But I like Linux and Fedora.
I think bluetooth trying to connect to something headphone or …
Hi, I turned Bluetooth off. I did try connecting a bluetooth device (headset) several days ago but was unsuccessful. I may have or probably forgot to turn BT off. In any case it is off now. I will monitor it and see if I get the message or not in the future.
If that was the problem and also the answer, that would be great to know. Right under my nose and yet not seeable, to me, at least.
If it is taken care of, I thank you for your support and feedback. If it does continue, I will get on line again, if not, have a nice day.
sincerely, magic
Hi sideburns, I think the problem has been solved. Iprobably had bluetooth turned on because I was trying to pair with a head set.
It didn’t pair and so I left it alone, but forgot to turn bt off. I have turned it off and think that was / solved the problem.
I not skilled at computer programming or anything like that. I sometimes have difficulties when getting support / help and receive instructions that may be clear for others, but not for me.
I do best with copy paste sudo … etc. insrtuctions. As soon as I get instructions with just some letters or split lines or different symbols, then I’m not sure how to enter it in the Terminal.
Also not knowing 100% when sudo is or isn’t required.
Anyway, thanks for your support and feed back and patience.
I will continue with the Fedora Project if and when I have future problems.
For me it is a learn by doing process.
Take care and thanks again.
Sincerely,
Magic
Yes, one line at a time without sudo unless that’s part of the command you were given. Also, if a line ends with \ that means that the command continues on the next line. IMAO, the commands you were given had too many continuations to the next line because they were short enough to fit on one line.
Last, don’t worry about not being a programmer; most Linux users aren’t. At the most, you may want/need to connect several small programs together so that the output for one is the input for the next (such as what I did with tee) but that’s something you can worry about later, after you’ve got everything working correctly.
@vits95
It is likely that the OP is not familiar enough with linux and scripting to understand that when you end a line with \ it means that the line is continued in the next line. Since you suggested using several commands that are more than 80 characters in length you showed the line break with \ and that can be very confusing to a newbie.
It sure confused me when I first started (many years ago).
That notation began with use of IBM punch cards way back when with fixed length 80 char entry lines, and continued with ascii terminal use and programming languages that did not allow the lines to wrap as newer languages and displays do now.
As a test-user
There was an infamous one-liner in Perl posted on LOR (rm rf of a root dir).
Hi Vit95, thanks for your input. That is more the case, that I am not familiar enough with the scripting process.
As you yourself said, neebie and confused.
But now I know a bit more than before.
Again, thanks.

The problem was that the bluetooth was on and trying to reach another device, which was no longer “findable”.
After I turned the bluetooth off, the message stopped.
Again, thanks.
