Accessing the dash with keyboard

To access the dash using only a keyboard, I need to:

  1. press the super key which opens the activities window
  2. then press ctrl+alt+tab and select the dash
  3. then use the left and right keys on the keyboard to select any of the apps in the dash

Without installing anything additional, is there a faster way to access the dash using a keyboard?

If it’s just to switch between windows. Super + Tab.

p.s. GNOME seems to have undocumented shortcuts. I’m using Super+Alt+Left/Right to switch between workspaces, which is not in the documentation nor the shortcut settings.

I am not sure there is a faster way. However, I find the dash is mainly useful in connection with the mouse/trackpad.

With keyboard only navigation, in order to launch new apps, I usually press Super+A (or just Super) and start typing the first few letters of the app, then Enter. Pretty fast in my opinion.

I believe that’s the only way, friend. Unless someone here can tell me otherwise. Obviously the most simple way is to super then start typing what you want to launch. You probably have your reasons, though. Good luck!

It would be useful if one could press Super then use the arrow keys to get to the dash and select one of the apps in the dash. But pressing Super then typing the first few letters is definitely pretty fast. And Super + Tab is right on for active applications. Thank you @navras, @tqcharm, @gaelheart.
