Key recaps
In today’s meeting, we primarily discussed three tickets, each linked below with a brief summary.
With our gradual reboot of the team, now is a good time to ask ourselves: Who are we? What do we do as a team? What is most important to us? To that end, we are drafting a vision statement and mission statement for our team. These two statements form the basis of our team identity and what kinds of areas we focus on.
In the meeting, we generally agreed on two focus areas that should be represented in our vision and mission statements: events and supporting DEI communities in Fedora.
@jonatoni will work on a first draft of these statements by our next meeting on 28 September. The draft will be written in this HackMD pad.
This ticket was opened shortly after the meeting, but it was one of the outcomes of talking about vision and mission statements for the team. The role of the DEI Advisor in our team and the Fedora Council came up, specifically as it relates to getting toward the “heat” of activity in the Fedora Project. With the changing of our DEI Advisor, this is a good opportunity to reflect on the role and consider making changes to the charter for this position in the team.
Lastly, planning is underway for Fedora Appreciation Week in November. We are looking for help with tasks for design, content, and event organizing. See the GitLab comment for details and to get involved with the efforts!
In other news…
Something that did not get brought up at the meeting but is underway is the official nomination period for the next DEI Advisor. This is happening in the GitLab issue below:
So, that is all for now! We’ll see you next time! Thanks to all who came out and participated in today’s meeting.
